A blog reader has requested help in identifying this Gorham Strasbourg spoon. It's nine inches long with a bowl that's 2 3/4 inches long. Does anyone out there know the proper name of this piece? If so, add a comment to this post or send us an email.

I don't think this is Strasbourg. The bowls of Strasbourg spoons are in a clover shape, and the decoration on the bowl is more ornate than Strasbourg. A clearer picture would help. The berry spoon in Strasbourg is 8 3/4" and the small salad spoon is 9"--but again, they have clover-type bowls.
Chocolate muddler?
It appears to be either a salad or berry spoon. Is the length exactly 9 inches?
According to the original questioner, it is 9 inches.
Unfortunately I don't have a copy of Gorham's original catalog for this pattern, but based on their old catalogs for other patterns, it looks closest to a berry spoon. However, I agree with the multi-purpose uses for today's dining as outlined in your latest post. It's a beautiful piece. I say use it for whatever you want and enjoy it!
